FBI Newark CAAA Hosts Seminar on Hate Crimes: Recognize, Report, Prosecute
On September 17, 2024, the FBI Newark Citizens Academy Alumni Association, in partnership with the FBI Newark Division, sponsored an important and timely seminar titled “Hate Crimes: Recognize, Report, Prosecute.” This event brought together key partners, including the FBI, New Jersey State Police, Cape May Prosecutor’s Office, New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, and the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General.
The seminar aimed to:
✅ Educate attendees on the definitions and types of hate crimes
✅ Enhance understanding of what constitutes a reportable legal hate crime/threat
✅ Provide solution-focused strategies to protect our communities from this growing concern
The presentations and handouts shared invaluable knowledge, equipping attendees with the tools needed to recognize and combat hate crimes in their neighborhoods.
