FBI Newark Citizens Academy Alumni Association

As volunteer ambassadors for the FBI, FBINewarkCAAA educates communities about federal law enforcement issues, priorities, and goals; and serves to foster a greater understanding of the role of federal law enforcement in alignment with the mission and resources of the FBI. FBINewarkCAAA does this by:

  • Providing public education programs to raise awareness of community safety issues such as cybercrime, violent extremism, drugs, terrorism, gang activity, public corruption and other criminal activities.
  • Equipping citizens with information, tools and resources to address public safety issues such as opioid addiction, hate crimes, online scams, human trafficking, and active shooter situations.
  • Sponsoring community service initiatives to help at-risk populations through food drives, clothing donations, school supplies, childhood reading programs, and senior meals.
  • Supporting FBI sponsored outreach and information programs to community citizens, businesses, religious organizations, and government agencies.
About Us

Our History

The better we know our communities, the better we can protect them. The Community Relations Unit at FBI Headquarters and FBI Community Outreach Specialists in field offices across the country create and strengthen relationships locally and nationally with minority groups, religious, civic, and non-profit organizations, schools, and other entities. These partnerships have led to a host of crime prevention programs, enabling families to stay safe from fraudsters and cyber predators; allowing businesses to protect themselves from hackers and economic espionage; assisting schools and workplaces to safeguard against violent rampages and illegal drugs; and raising awareness amongst all citizens of potential acts of terror and extremism. The FBI Citizens Academy is one of the programs that the FBI sponsors.
